Our Great, Great, Great Uncle Had No Excuse For Forgetting His Wedding Anniversary

Our 3*Great Uncle Henry Hinshelwood married his second wife, Annie George, on Christmas Day 1874. So he would have had no excuse for forgetting his anniversary. I wonder how he greeted Annie when they woke on Xmas morning? Did he say Merry Christmas first, then Happy Anniversary? Or did he hedge his bets and say Merry Chrisaversary? 

Regardless, Henry's profile reads like the outline screenplay for the movie of a Dickensian novel. I have produced it below for your Xmas edification, or you could read it.  Anyhow here is Henry's potted profile:

There Is An Interesting Story Here For Future Research

 Whilst updating the profile of my and brother David's 3 times removed cousin Dorcas Innes Forbes I found her 1901 Census Record.  Dorcas was living with her husband Charles Taylor and their adopted daughter Adelaide JFT McDuatra.

This intrigued me so I did a bit more delving and found that the Census had been transcribed badly and the adopted daughters name was actually Adelaide McCoustra.  Adelaide was born in 1900 at Falkirk and was the illegitimate daughter of a Jane Mauchline McCoustra.  Adelaide's full name was Adelaide Innes Forbes Taylor McCoustra.  'Innes Forbes' and 'Taylor' being the names of her future adoptive parents!

So what was going on here?  Did Jane McCoustra give her daughter these names to embarrass the father of her child, or was this a surrogate birth?  

A conundrum worthy of further research when I get time.
